Chalcopyrite, also known as Peacock Ore, is a copper iron sulfide mineral with a metallic luster and a brassy yellow color. When exposed to oxidation, it develops iridescent hues of purple, blue, green, and gold, resembling a peacock’s feathers—hence the name. It is a primary copper ore and is often mistaken for pyrite or bornite.
